GECA core membership is exclusively made up of businesses from across the building services and engineering sector that are involved with the design, installation, and maintenance of electrical and electrotechnical systems. However, we also offer a number of associate categories that enable the wider industry to engage with our members and also contribute to the ongoing improvement of our industry.
Effective and efficient public service institutions enable a transparent, needs-based distribution of public resources aligned to the priorities of the community while encouraging private sector growth. Lack of capacity and weak governance structures present barriers to reform and impede development progress.
GECA Member firms currently have a combined turnover of over 10 billion GHS annually. Member firms carry out design and installation activities across commercial, industrial, and domestic sectors. Our members also cover work across areas including, Fire, emergency, and Security systems, Datacomms, Temporary Installations, Building Control Systems, High Voltage, and Audio Visual.
The GECA’s 2,000 members range from SME electrical firms to nationwide engineering contractors and building services firms that employ thousands of professionals on major projects. GECA members also support over 2,000 apprentices annually.
GECA member companies are certificated by the GECA or by ‘approved’ industry certification bodies before membership is approved. As a result, clients can be assured that GECA members deliver the highest caliber of work possible.
GECA Member-companies receive a host of value-adding business support services that give a real competitive advantage and empower and foster business growth. These include:
- Technical
- Health & Safety
- Employee Relations
- Commercial & Contracts
- Education & Skills
- Energy & Environment
We offer membership to businesses achieving the highest industry standards and certifications across all aspects of electrical and electrotechnical design, installation, inspection, testing and monitoring. Your business could already be eligible to join if certificated via a ‘deem to satisfy” route.
We offer manufacturers and distributors the opportunity to engage with the GECA and our Member businesses in a number of ways. Our Commercial Associate category also enables the development of closer working relationships with our regional hubs.
The GECA actively supports efforts to improve industry standards and the quality of training and development available. We proactively invite training and vocational institutions to join our Educational Associate Programme.
Thoroughly vetted – GECA Registered Members undergo regular, rigorous technical assessments to ensure they carry out safe electrical work, installed to recognized industry standards and practice
